Fiona Ma, one of the few Certified Public Accountants to ever have served on the State Board of Equalization, will be speaking on the latest news in cannabis banking at the Marijuana Investor Summit in San Francisco this March.
Ma’s District 2 seat represents 10 million people from the Oregon border to Santa Barbara in 23 counties, and the State Board of Equalization will play a major role in the implementation and oversight of the Medical Marijuana Regulations and Safety Act, which was signed on Oct. 9, 2015, by Gov. Jerry Brown.
Ma was first elected to represent the people of California’s 12th Assembly District from November 2006 to November 2012. She was the 112th woman to be elected to the California Legislature and the first Asian woman to ever serve as Speaker pro Tempore since 1850.
This is the second Marijuana Investor Summit, following the premier event in Denver in April of 2014, which drew more than 1,000 people and 100 exhibitors. The Marijuana Investor Summit in San Francisco is a unique opportunity to learn about the state of cannabis in California directly from those shaping the legal landscape.
